Parts and Accessories for Furniture

Sometimes the most important things are the ones people rarely think about.

Take chair glides, for example; they're very easy to miss. In fact, you may even be wondering to yourself: "What exactly IS a chair glide?" To answer that question, it's the fixture that goes on the bottom side of each chair leg. They may be small and mostly unnoticeable, but they're far from useless.

Chair glides are protective tools. They shield both the chair legs and the floor underneath from scratches and wear. In addition, they are also a great way to keep your chairs level and balanced.

While many chairs come with glides, it is possible to swap them out for new ones, such as plastic or metal glides. You'll want to remember to switch out worn or damaged glides, as failing to do so could cause damage to your floors or chairs. It is also important to consider where you are placing your chairs and how that will affect your glides. The spaces between tiles, for example, could snag a chair glide while the chair is being moved, which could be a safety hazard for people sitting on the chair.

Table wedges are similar to chair glides, but are less intended for furniture protection. Over time, table legs can be worn down or warped, which causes the table to wobble. Wedges resolve the issue by keeping the table balanced. Simply insert a wedge underneath any problematic areas and your table will stand straight.

Wedges are adaptable and reliable. They can be stacked and adjusted, are made with flexible materials, and are very sturdy. Your wedges will last a long time, which is good news for any tables that need them.

Despite their common use with tables and furniture, there are actually more creative ways to use wedges. Depending on the size and shape, you could use wedges to stabilize decorations like plants or ceramics. You can even use a wedge to hold objects steady on slick surfaces.

Glides and wedges may be small, but they are most certainly invaluable. Invest in them today and keep wear, tear, and wobbly legs away!
