Should You Invest In A Gas Stove?

Today, electric stoves have revolutionized restaurant kitchens, with their smart technology interfaces, accessibility, and other helpful features. All of that modernization may lead one to wonder: what does this mean for their gas-powered counterparts? The question is a fair one, and at first glance, electric may seem like the easy answer. But it is important to not count gas stoves out just yet.

Surprisingly enough, there are advantages that gas stoves have over electric ones. For instance, it is possible to use a gas stovetop to cook directly over a flame without the use of cookware. This is a great way to cook items like vegetables in mere minutes, while also getting the taste, texture, and smell of flame-cooked food. Additionally, gas stoves can boil water faster than electric burners can, as they do not have elements that need to be heated up before use. Naturally, because of that fact, gas stoves also generally cook food faster than electric stoves.

Gas stoves can still be used in the event of power loss. While electric ignitions, convection fans, and other features will not be useable, the burners themselves need only be lit in order to be used. Whether powered via ignition or manually, gas stoves provide immediate heat to facilitate use.

Of course, gas stoves aren't perfect. In addition to being more expensive on average than electric stoves, they also require more thorough cleaning and they tend to be less energy efficient. But even so, if open flame cooking and the start up speed of a gas stove appeal to you, gas stoves might be the better choice.
