When Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica in October 2025, entire communities were left without basic essentials. Clean drinking water became one of the biggest challenges overnight, and recovery efforts were stretched thin. In moments like these, support has to move fast, and that is exactly what happened when Restaurant Equipment World (REW) stepped up to help.
Earlier this month, Brad Pierce, CEO of REW and an active AEROBridge volunteer, joined pilot Jordan Smith on a relief flight to Montego Bay. Flying at thirty three thousand feet with a plane full of filtration units, the goal was simple. Bring clean, safe water to people who had no access to it.
After landing in Jamaica, the team got right to work. The filtration systems they delivered are capable of producing enough clean drinking water for ten thousand people per day, which immediately helped ease the strain on local communities. Ground handlers, volunteers, donors, and the AEROBridge network all came together to keep flights moving and supplies flowing.
Since that initial mission, Brad has already returned to Jamaica on another relief flight. This time the aircraft was loaded with generators, chain saws, and other critical equipment needed to clear debris, restore power, and support life saving efforts across the island. REW team members Joe Corkum and Keryan Frederic played a major role in making that happen. They worked in Orlando to load the gear into the aircraft and ensure everything was packed safely for the trip. Their efforts helped deliver tools that make an immediate difference for families and first responders still recovering from the storm.
The damage across the island is still serious, and many communities are working hard to get back on their feet. People have faced long days without power, safe water, or the tools they need to rebuild. AeroBridge has now concluded its flights as government agencies and larger relief organizations have stepped in with ongoing support. Even so, the impact of the early missions will continue to be felt. The supplies delivered in those first critical days brought real help and real hope to families who were facing the toughest moments of the aftermath.
Even when storms darken the sky, the AEROBridge community steps forward. REW is proud to play a role in this work by helping pave a path for ongoing support. As disasters arise, our staff and the teams behind these missions will keep flying, serving, and doing what they can to bring relief to those who need it most.
